Life 13 NAT/ES/000772 Actions towards the protection and conservation of Iberian cyprinids of community interest “Cipriber” was developed with the objective of protecting and establishing a protocol for the recovery of populations of native endemic cyprinids in the southwestern area of the province of Salamanca, as well as conserving and restoring the natural habitats in which they are living. Icthios handled diagnosing zero state of the fish populations. We evaluated the ecological status and longitudinal connectivity in the rivers included in the project and monitored the actions carried out (the removal of 16 transversal barriers and the construction of 40 naturalized fish passages in weirs).
Icthios has actively participated in the spreading of the results, which is essential in Life projects. In this sense, it has participated in numerous scientific congress and conferences, being expressly responsible for the organization of some of them, as well as the closure of the project.
